Multimodal Approach to Chiropractic Treatment
At Edgar Family Chiropractic we offer a comprehensive and multimodal approach to treatment. Treatments vary depending on the specific needs of the patient and can include any and all of the following therapies:

Muscle therapy and soft tissue techniques
Joint and spine mobilizations
Physiotherapy modalities (such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot/cold therapy)
medical acupuncture
rehabilitation exercises
Our chiropractic treatments last for 20-30 minutes and sometimes even longer depending on the complexity of the condition that is being treated.

Goals of Chiropractic Treatment:

Reduce Inflammation in injured soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints or nerves)
Heal and improve the function of the soft tissues by:
Reducing the tension/stiffness in soft tissues and improving joint mobility
Lengthening shortened/contracted soft tissues
Breaking down scar tissue that may form after an injury
Improving muscle balance, strength, and coordination to reduce the chance of future injury
The following are examples of several different treatment techniques that we use at Edgar Family Chiropractic:

Chiropractic
Active Release Technique (ART): this is a soft tissue technique that incorporates patient movement into the therapy. Dysfunctional tissues are treated by combining precise hands-on pressure on the muscles by the chiropractor combined with very specific patient movements. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART.

Trigger Point Therapy: This type of massage therapy addresses tight area within the muscle tissue that triggers pain in the other area of the body. At times, the pain might become sharp, intense or dull; it depends on the isolated pressure. With the help of this massage technique, you can experience a significant decline in the pain thereby managing the pain and stress from chronic injuries.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitated (PNF) Stretching: This is a common practice of stretching muscles to maximize its flexibility. Flexible body allows you to move freely and comfortably. PNF stretching is a very effective form of rehabilitation.

Chiropractic Adjustments/Mobilizations

The purpose of chiropractic adjustments is to improve motion in joints that are not moving/functioning optimally. By adjusting or restoring movement to joints, the muscles around the joints relax and the patient feels less discomfort and more mobility. Adjustments are tailored to the needs of the patient, as well as the patient’s age. We offer hands-on adjustments as well as instrument directed adjustments to create the most comfortable adjustment for any patient of any age.
